If you decide to go to NIS do contact Norton's OnLine Customer Support via the CHAT route as below and see if they can convert your unexpired time on N 360 to add to the NIS either just to activate your trial as it is or if you buy a copy with 366 days than by adding to that. Some of the N 360 utilities can be useful but I don't regard them as essential, certainly not to safe computing!
Note also that N 360 is aimed largely at a fit and forget market and so has fewer settings to tweak than in NIS or NAV. SInce you say you have a 2 year subscription sitting there doing nothing (?) it might be best to use it - see what you think when you have checked out the feature comparison.

And in any case if you get N 360 V5 now you are entitled to a free upgrade to V6 anytime while your subscription is in force. But Norton 360 V6 is in Public Beta at present and last year it came out in the Spring (USA). However at this very moment NIS and NAV are 2012 versions of the AV engines etc while Norton 360 V5 is still on 2011 since they upgrade six months apart, approximately. Secondly it's not so much better or worse in general as horses for courses. The choice is yours and we'll be here to assist when you need us.

Then you can clean up your system and install NIS. If you are using the identity safe feature be sure to save it before you make the change.įrom a money standpoint you can go with 360 until you decide it isn't what you need or the subscription expires. If you elect to use 360 please use the NOrton Removal Tool found here: to eliminate all of the bits and bytes of NIS before you install 360. They both provide the same level of protection but they don't have the same features and 'tweakability' ISNIS better/worse than 360? They are different products with different points of focus. I don't see a conparison chart so I'm not sure which product is better or offers more protection, but I do see N360 is more expensive to purchase. When NIS expires, should I just go with N360 and save come $$ since it's good for a couple more years or should I renew NIS? I have N360 on my Norton Account from a previous PC and it expires in 2 years. My trial subscription of NIS on my Windows 7 PC is expiring in 29 days and I really like it. Is Norton Internet Security (NIS) better or worse than Norton 360 Permier Edition (N360)?
